Axis deer
TEXAS HILL COUNTRY AXIS
axis deer were brought to texas in the 1930's to provide more hunting opportunities to the large number of the state's hunters. Since the 30's, the axis deer numbers have grown exponentially.
These deer are known for their beautiful hides, featuring a burnt orange color with white spots, as well as their distinct antlers, and the meat is widely viewed as a delicacy.
About our axis hunts
our axis hunts take place on foot in the beautiful texas hill country. We do not hunt from deer stands or over corn feeders. This style might be different than the stereotypical texas deer hunt, however, this is how we prefer it, and think that it adds so much more experience to the end “Trophy”. We put boots on the ground, a pack on our backs, and create memories that will never be forgotten.
on a perennial outfitting axis hunt, expect to put in 2-6 miles of hiking on foot per day. There will be anywhere from 6-10 hours spent behind your glass, and shooting distances will vary, but be prepared for shots out to 300 yards.
